Review

If you are a high stakes fantasy football player that is looking for a new site to play on, you may have just found what you were looking for. The Fantasy Football Players Championship hasn't been around for long, but it is already one of the best high stakes fantasy football sites out there. There are so many things to love about this site that including the industry leading 81-90% Payouts. Most fantasy football sites will take a cut between 25-35%, but TheFPPC only take 10-19%. You also won't find many other sites with a Main Event quite like this one.

MAIN EVENT:

Here is how the main event works: The entry fee is $1,550 with a total of 720 teams each year. All of those teams will be randomly placed into 60 different leagues of 12 teams each. Once you are in a league, you will only compete against the other 11 teams in your league until the Championship Rounds. The Championship Rounds are where the big money is made with the grand prize taking home $200,000.

To qualify for the Champtionship Rounds, you have to do it through your league of 12 teams. At the end of the regular season (weeks 1-11), the teams with the top 2 seeds in each league will automatically qualify for the Championship Rounds. There is also another chance to get into the Championship Rounds if you barely miss out on the first 2 seeds. Each league will have a playoff in weeks 12-13 for the top 4 seeds in each league. Then the winner of each league playoff will enter the Championship Rounds if they have not already qualified. So that means that 2 or 3 teams qualify for the Championship Rounds from each league.

ROSTER:

The roster on The FPPC is very unique. You are allowed to have 20 players on your roster, but only 10 will be active each week. Your 10-man starting roster will consist of: 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D/ST and 2 Flex Players (RB/WR/TE). Another interesting feature about rosters is that there are no trades. You have to compete using only the team you have drafted along with free agent pickups.

FREE AGENTS:

Free Agents will be picked up by using the FABB which is the Free Agent Bidding Bucket. This is similar to many fantasy leagues that use Blind Bidding. Each team gets $1,000 bidding dollars to use towards free agents. Each week you can blindly bid on free agents and the person with the highest bid will get that free agent and however much they bid will come out of their $1,000 total. You can pick up as many free agents as you want, but once your $1,000 is gone, you will have a hard time getting free agents that you want.

SCORING:

Below is the Fantasy Football Players Championship Scoring System. There are a couple important things to note here. First, TE's get 1.5 points per reception compared to only 1 for RB's and WR's. This is a very strange rule but one that could be an advantage for you. With TE's getting huge bumps in value in this league, and you should draft accordingly. There is a mandatory TE position and two flex positions that can both be filled by TE's. This bump gave Dallas Clark an extra 50 fantasy points in 2009, making him the highest scoring player among WR's and TE's alike. The other scoring note is defensive scoring, which is significantly more substantial in this format than in other high stakes fantasy leagues, so don't completely neglect your defense. Here is the scoring breakdown:

•4 pts for passing TDs, 6 pts for all other TDs
•1 pt for every 20 yards passing
•1 point for every 10 yards rushing or receiving
•1 pt per reception for RBs and WRs
•1.5 pt per reception for TEs
•3 points for every FG of 1 – 30 yards plus .1 point for every yard thereafter
•1 pt for D/ST sack, 2 pts for all turnovers
•6 pts for all D/ST touchdowns
•5 pts for every safety
•12 points for every shutout
•8 points for allowing between 1- 6 points
•5 points for allowing between 7 – 10 points

DRAFT:

The FFPC is great because they offer two different types of drafts for their main event. You can either do it live and in person in Las Vegas or you can do it online. There is no advantage to either one besides the fact that you will get a trip to Las Vegas. If you decide to do the draft in person it costs $125 which includes food and drinks. It will be held at Caeser's Palace in Las Vegas right before the start of the regular season. The online draft, hosted by MockDraftCentral.com is also a great option for the high stakes player who is not interested in the Las Vegas weekend.

PAYOUTS:

Not only does The FFPC have some of the best payouts in the idustry (81-90%), but they also put all of the prize pool in an escrow account and have some of the fastest prize payouts in the industry. Each year they set a guaranteed prize payout date that is usually only a few days after the regular season ends.
